What can you find here?

The site currently lists 4,639 places in 246 cities and 18 regions. In addition to traditional outdoor playgrounds, the directory covers indoor playgrounds, amusement parks, water parks, skate parks and other places popular with kids.

You can browse the data in several ways:

• Search places by name, city, neighborhood or postal code.
• Near me shows the closest places based on your location.
• Browse by region, city and neighborhood.
• Filter indoor venues only if the weather isn't on your side.

What do the popularity tiers mean?

Every place is shown with a popularity tier based on the total number of Google Maps reviews. The tier gives a quick sense of how well-known the place is.

• Mega popular — over 500 reviews
• Very popular — 100–499 reviews
• Popular — 30–99 reviews
• Well-known — 10–29 reviews
• Local — 1–9 reviews
• No reviews — no reviews yet

The popularity tier is useful as a filter and sort criterion, but it does not directly indicate the quality of a place — a small local playground can be just as enjoyable as a more well-known destination.

Where does the data come from?

The base information about each place (name, location, ratings, category) is fetched via the Google Places API. The mapping of postal codes to neighborhoods comes from a Wikipedia-maintained list of Finnish postal codes. The indoor flag is set automatically based on the place type. Place descriptions are written manually based on publicly available information.

Does the data get updated?

The data is refreshed manually as needed. This means some places may have slightly outdated information — a playground's name or address may have changed and the change isn't immediately reflected here. If you spot an error, send feedback and we'll fix it in the next data update.

Is this site run by a municipality or official body?

No. Playground Finder Finland is a free hobby project run by a single individual. The site is not affiliated with or operated by any municipality, and it does not provide official municipal information.

Does it cost anything to use?

The site is completely free for users, with no advertising. It doesn't require registration or cookie consent. Your location is used only by the "Near me" feature and never leaves your browser — see the privacy policy for details.
