Kiteen Wildlife Park

Kiteen Eläinpuisto is the fourth-largest zoo in Finland, located on the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi in the village of Puhos. A 2-kilometre scenic loop trail takes visitors past 50 species and roughly 200 animals. Residents include a brown bear named Riku, lynx, yaks, deer, wild boars, alpacas, reindeer and ostriches. The collection focuses on species native to Finnish forests but also features exotic arrivals such as the all-black Ayam Cemani chicken from Indonesia. Guided tours run for groups, lasting about 1.5–2 hours. The zoo shares its grounds with Pajarinhovi hotel, holiday cottages and a café-restaurant, making it a natural day or weekend stop from Joensuu or Savonlinna, both about an hour away.
