Parrulaituri Playground, Helsinki

A spacious playground within walking distance of a metro station in the Kalasatama area of Helsinki, part of a park in the middle of a developing residential area. The playground focuses on climbing and swinging, with hills and mounds for climbing, low workout bars, hanging ladders and a balance beam plus a small pump-track-style area for skating and scootering. The site is aimed especially at slightly older children, but there is also activity for younger ones. Beside it is a lawn for picnics, and during play you can watch the new district take shape with its machines and cranes. A different and stimulating local destination in a maritime area.
